Marc-Andre Fleury was synonymous with the Pittsburg Penguins for well over a decade before he was left exposed and was claimed by the Vegas Golden Knights in the 2017 expansion draft. Leaving the only team he'd ever known must've been heartbreaking for him, but it doesn't seem like he's let the fact that he's gone on to play for 3 different teams hurt his relationship with people that surely are his best friends.
In the clip below, Fleury can be seen pranking Pens captain Sidney Crosby. His reasoning? Payback. Last year, Crosby filled his equipment with gum.
No matter where their careers may take them, this is the kind of levity and relationships the game of hockey needs sometimes.
I'll be honest here, this summer I was hoping Fleury would sign in Pittsburg to finish out his sure fire hall of fame career. Alas, it wasn't meant to be. I'm sure I wasn't alone in that thought though.
This kind of thing really shows that no matter what happens, the NHL is a brotherhood. The bond created on the ice lasts a lifetime, no matter how much Gary Bettman tries to ruin the on ice product.
