Matthew Tkachuk jumps Shayne Gostisbehere after a dirty hit on Sasha Barkov
Like him or not, Matthew Tkachuk has been a great addition for the Florida Panthers. He leads the team in points and has been their most consistent contributor this season. Tkachuk also demonstrated another part of his value, standing up for his teammates. During last nights game versus Arizona, Shayne Gostisbehere hit Aleksander Barkov from behind. Although no penalty was called on the play, Barkov hit the boards and fell to the ice.
Immediately Matthew Tkachuk skated across the ice and dropped the gloves and went after Gostisbehere. It really wasn't much of a fight as both players wrestled each other to the ice. Shortly after that other players from both teams started pairing off and pushing and shoving ensued. See the replay below.
The Florida Panthers are not having the in season success that they had last year. However, the acquisition of Matthew Tkachuk has really been a bright spot for them. Good for Tkachuk for standing up for Barkov who absorbed a questionable hit in the corner. Not only has Tkachuk consistently contributed offensive, but he's also protecting his teammates as well. No doubt, his teammates are appreciative of that.
