Most of the time a shot at an empty net is viewed as a nothing play, but Friday night during a game between the Florida Panthers and Buffalo Sabres that wasn't the case. With the final seconds ticking off the clock in an already decided game, a Buffalo player attempts a shot at the empty net. Before the puck can go in, time expires.
With the Sabres leading the game 3-1, the shot in and of itself was unnecessary. But the victory pushed the Sabres ahead of the Panthers in the standings. After the last minute shot Matthew Tkachuk decided to send a message to the Sabres.
