Member of the Minnesota Wild sends cryptic tweet about his future in Minnesota
Since their elimination there have been rumours about what's next for the Minnesota Wild. Due to their cap situation it is inevitable that they will be moving players out this summer. Today though there has been a development as Kevin Fiala may have just signaled his time with the Wild is over, via Instagram.
Bill Guerin was quoted by Michael Russo of The Athletic on the matter:
There's an uncertainty. We'd love to have Kevin back. I don't know if it's going to be possible. I'm uncertain. I am. We can do anything, but at what cost?
That was on May 17th, things appear to be moving quickly, especially after the Wild's first-round exit. Fiala is a pending RFA on July, 1st and would be a great depth piece, maybe a new start is needed as Fiala had a great season with 85 points, but there were times when he was needed in the regular and post-season where he'd have lulls in scoring.
The New Jersey Devils have also been linked to Fiala:
GM Tom Fitzgerald has been open about potentially trading the team's 2022 first-round pick, which will be no lower than seventh overall (pending Tuesday's draft lottery), for an «impact player.» And, reportedly, that player might just be Kevin Fiala.
With rookies looking to compete for a spot, and the Parise and Suter contracts eating into space, it's sad to see the Wild have to move on from Fiala but it's necessary. With hope, they can be back in contention, with Beckman slotting in.
