Mitch Marner busted open by hit from behind with no call
Toronto Maple Leafs fan received quite the scare during the first period of tonight's game. With the game tied at 1 with the Maple Leafs on the powerplay, Mitch Marner carried the puck along the side boards. As Marner tries to make a move on defender, Dylan DeMelo, he takes a hard hit from behind.
The hit drove Marner's face directly into the dashed board. After remaining on the ice in some pain, Marner eventually makes it to the bench. Marner was tended to by the teams training to try and get the bleeding stopped.
Marner would remain in the game and there was no penalty on the play. The question becomes, was this a dirty hit or simply Marner putting himself in a dangerous position?
