Montreal Canadiens' rookie Arber Xhekaj calls out one of the league's fake tough guys
Arber Xhekaj is a little over halfway into his first season in the National Hockey League career, but the twenty-one-year-old who has five goals, eight assists to go along with ninety-two penalty minutes seems to have found a regular spot in the Montreal Canadiens lineup.
Xhekaj who stands 6'4 and weighs 238 lbs sits comfortably on the third pairing alongside Johnathan Kovacevic continues to go toe to toe with some of the league's best players participating in ten fights.
During the Canadiens recent game versus the Florida Panthers, Xhekaj attempted to fight tough guy Radko Gudas, but the thirty-two-year-old from Kladno, Czechia refused to answer the bell. Afterward while speaking to Eric Engels, Xhekaj's comments about Gudas not answering the bell:
He never does. I don't know what's up with that guy. He'll be taking runs at guys' knees all game. He does play hard, I'll give it to him. But at some point you've gotta show that you're going to be able to do that.
Kudos to Xhekaj for telling it how it is while simultaneously complimenting Gudas.
