NHL Department of Player Safety announce hearing after dangerous knee
Mason Shaw a fourth line right winger for the Minnesota Wild is paid to play on the edge, but recently may have gone too far.
During the Wild game in San Jose against the Sharks, Shaw hit Right Winger Evgeny Svechnikov at 7:46 of the second period. Shaw who apparently was also shaken up on the play was assessed a five minute major for kneeing and a game misconduct.

This isn't the first time Shaw has been penalized for a similar play as he was caught recently skating in an East-West motion hitting Sharks defenceman Radim Simek in a similar manner. That play did not result in a suspension as there was insufficient video evidence to warrant discipline, but you can bet that George Parros, the head of the NHL Department of Player Safety will be on the phone to Shaw very soon.
Today Parros announced that Shaw will face an immediate hearing.
It will be interesting to see what sort of punishment Shaw will receive.
