NHL Player Safety announces hearing for New York Islanders player

The NHL Department of Player Safety has officially announced that Casey Cizikas will have a hearing for his hit on Brendan Smith during last night's game.

The hit occured during the 3rd period in the games versus Carolina Hurricanes game. The Cizikas hit drove Smith into the boards from behind as he looked to make a play on the puck.

Cizikas received a 2-minute penalty for boarding on the play but Smith left the game and did not return.
It will be interesting to see how George Parros and NHL Player Safety handles this hit.
