The National Hockey League has a lot of rules in need of mending, fixing or better yet being tossed out completely. One such rule is goaltender interference. The rule for as long as it's been called has lacked consistency and left fans and players alike wondering what exactly the definition of the rule is
According to NHL Breakers, several NHL players were asked and the consensus was that they would like a clearer rules' surrounding goalie interference.
I have to agree here, oftentimes I find myself scratching my head at this rule in particular and I find that the referee's often don't know how to call the rule correctly. The rules as they're written should be black and white, not open to interpretation, if they're not, that's how game management' leaks into every game.
Knowing the NHL and Gary Bettman, nothing will be done. Nothing is ever done. The big wigs that run the NHL fail to realize most times that their beloved game is broken. There's always going to be people that watch hockey. The issue is, they want to grow the game and if it's hard to explain the rules to new fans, that'll drive them away.
