The never ending saga of the Evgeni Dadanov trade that didn't go through at the deadline continues to drag on. At Gary Bettman's media availability he was asked if the Ottawa Senators would be facing any sanctions for their part in the debacle.
The Commissioner of the NHL never likes to give out too much information. Gary Bettman also doesn't think it's up to him to punish the Senators. He essentially left it in the hands of the Golden Knights:
One thing I wish I would have been more clear about last weekend: the NHL will not initiate any sanctions against Ottawa for the Evgeni Dadonov trade snafu. However, there is a mechanism in the NHL bylaws where one organization has the opportunity to air valid grievances against another with relief granted, if deemed appropriate. It's up to Vegas.
So Bettman made his decision by not making one. I don't see the Vegas Golden Knights filing a grievance with the Ottawa Senators, doing so could cause long reaching issues. This would make Vegas an unattractive trading partner to some teams in the future, as it's well known that General Managers stick together. So hopefully this means the Dadonov saga is finally over.
