NHL change start times for pair of Monday games
The National Hockey League has announced changes to start times for a pair of games on Monday afternoon.
The National Hockey League has decided to change a pair of start times for Monday after the National Football League announced a schedule change of their own.
Due to the intense weather expected in Upstate New York in the next 24+ hours, the NFL has moved the Buffalo Bills/Pittsburgh Steelers game to Monday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. ET.
This move forced the NHL to pivot for a couple of reasons including to allow Buffalo and Pittsburgh fans to watch their NFL team in action, which is understandable to a point, but also a little embarrassing.
The Buffalo Sabres/San Jose Sharks game has been moved up to 12 p.m. ET from 1 p.m., while the Pittsburgh Penguins/Seattle Kraken game is now starting at 1 p.m. ET, moved from 6 p.m.
"Due to the timing change of the Bills playoff game, our game this Monday has been changed to 12 p.m." The Sabres said.
"SCHEDULE UPDATE: The start time for the Pittsburgh Penguins home game against the Seattle Kraken on Monday, January 15 has been moved to 1:00 PM." The Penguins said.
They added, "Puck drop for the Penguins vs. Kraken has been moved from 6:00 PM to 1:00 PM in response to the @steelers Wild Card Round game against the Buffalo Bills, which will now take place on Jan. 15 at 4:30 PM."
