Earlier today, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman reported that the Minnesota Wild were working on a contract with Jujhar Khaira, and to expect to see him in training camp this upcoming week.
Khaira, now 29 years old, spent the first seven years of his career with the Edmonton Oilers organization before heading to the Blackhawks the last two years. In 336 career games played, Khaira has 33 goals, 80 points, and 229 penalty minutes.
Khaira has been known throughout the league as an enforcer type for his physical play and willingness to fight. Last season, Khaira suffered a season ending back injury causing him to be stretchered off the ice and later into surgery. The injury was thought to be career threatening or ending at the time, but, now that he's healthy, perhaps he can earn a regular roster spot with the Wild.
