NHL fines another coach $25,000
The San Jose Sharks have had a difficult season, to say the least. Although Erik Karlsson is having a season that could potentially lead him to the James Norris trophy, they sit in second last place in the Western Conference and are holding onto thirtieth place in the thirty-two-team league.
While San Jose has seventeen games left before they clean out their lockers for the season, things went from bad to worse for them this past Saturday.
During what ultimately ended in an 8-3 drubbing by the Washington Capitals, Sharks' head coach David Quinn was given a Game Misconduct at 5:45 of the third period.
Video of the incident shows Quinn using some colorful language towards one of the referees, after being ejected and sent to the dressing room for the evening after disagreeing with a call.
As a result of the incident which was classified by the National Hockey League public relations department in a release as <>, Quinn was fined $25,000.
While I have no problem with handing a coach a fine for being mouthy, it's important to recognize that the officials have been rather inconsistent all season and although Quinn apologized and admitted that they have a tough job to do, more needs to be done to ensure they're doing the best job moving forward.
