The NHLPA and NHL have come up with updated safety protocols for the 2022-2023 season.

The NHL will allow clubs to suspend any unvaccinated player, unpaid for any days missed to quarantine, and travel restrictions. Unless they test positive or for a religious or medical exemption.
With Canada and the United States, changing protocols I doubt fewer players will be affected as they were before, however, there still is a quarantine protocol between the US-Canada border.
No player shall be denied an opportunity to play based upon vaccination status.
PCR tests will be provided for players who show Covid-19 symptoms and will be isolated provided the test is positive and there is a respiratory infection.
In following maintaining health protocols, after isolation, players will be given a cardiac test. After Brandon Sutter's chronic illness, I imagine they're trying to catch it before it starts.
Clubs will be required to disclose positive tests to the Media and public. From there, clubs will be required to follow government rules by country.
Clubs will provide remote care for the player(s) in isolation as well.
