NHL strips a team of their 1st round draft pick after investigation
It was one of the biggest stories of the 2022 NHL Trade Deadline. When the Vegas Golden Knights attempted to trade Evgeni Dadonov to the Anaheim Ducks, the deal was ultimately vetoed. At the time the situation was surrounded by confusion about and Dadonov himself appeared shocked.
When the dust settled it appeared that when Dadonov was acquired from the Ottawa Senators, the team failed to acknowledge his No Trade List which had been submitted. Over the weekend Elliotte Friedman revealed the Senators were going to face a stiff punishment for their actions.
Today that punishment has been revealed.
Ottawa will have to forfeit a first-round pick in one of the next three drafts (its choice) for its role in the aborted 2022 trade of Evgeni Dadonov from Vegas to Anaheim
This punishment is extremely severe and will further hamper the Senators attempts to be competitive. Many have speculated this punishment will lead to Pierre Dorion's ultimate termination.
