The New York Islanders have been mired in mediocrity for some time, sitting 6th in the metropolitan Division this season, it seems fans have had enough.
Last night when the Islanders took on the Carolina Hurricanes in a game they would go on to lose 5-2, isles fans voiced their displeasure and directed it at general manager Lou Lamoriello, take a look:
Fire Lou» is the chant here at UBS. #Isles
Now, I've always been on the fence regarding Lamoriello. His resume speaks for itself, but I can also understand why people are getting frustrated.
He definitely knows hockey and how to manage a team or he wouldn't have been in the game this long, but at this point, is it time for the Islanders to be taken in a new direction? From the fan reaction, that answer would be yes.
Lamoriello got lucky his first few years with the isles in my opinion, since then, it's steadily gone down hill. With his track record of signing aging players to more money than they're worth, the fans might be right on this one.
