New York Rangers fans want Alexis Lafreniere cut after embarrassing effort on back check leading to a goal
Hockey fans are extremely passionate and proud. So when they see a player on their team not putting in an appropriate amount of effort, they respond accordingly. That's exactly what happened during yesterday's game between the New York Islanders and New York Rangers.
In the very first period of the game, Lafreniere appears to completely give up on a play that ultimately ends up in the back of the Rangers net. As the puck comes to the middle of the ice, Lafreniere is clearly out of place and takes a lazy dive towards the puck, which winds up on an Islanders stick. The puck is easily buried giving the Islanders a 1-0 lead.
This display infuriated Rangers fans.
I would cut Alexis Lafreniere from my hockey team tomorrow for this bullshit. Biggest bust in NHL history.
This is clearly a make or break year for Alexis Lafreniere and unless he's playing for a fresh start, he doesn't want to end up on the wrong end of this many more times.
