Official attacked in disgusting fashion after a player becomes unhinged during youth hockey game
Another day, and another example of why officials are so hard to find nowadays.
Video from Russia shows a fight breaking out shortly after a third period faceoff. This game involves 13 year olds. Two of them get into a scuffle, and the officials try to break them up. Eventually they get back up, but number 40 seems to be absolutely losing his mind over what happened. He continues taking swings at the linesman. The official tries to get him off the ice. The two push a bit as they skate to the boards. Then the 13-year-old goes on the offensive again, taking and landing some big swings.
There's simply no way to justify this. It is exactly this type of incident that will make officials harder and harder to find for youth hockey, and sports in general.
I don't care who you are, at what age, if you do something like this, you shouldn't be allowed to play the game of hockey at a competitive level ever again.
