One of the biggest draft busts of the last decade signs professional tryout
Most players view professional tryouts as one of their final options to secure an NHL deal. For Olli Juolevi, not only could this be his last chance at securing an NHL deal, but it could be his final chance to secure a deal in North America. Today Juolevi signed a professional tryout with the Arizona Coyotes.
Today the Coyotes announce Juolevi joins 10 other players at Coyotes training camp.
Some of these were already announced but, #Yotes notably invite Olli Juolevi to training camp
Juolevi was a highly touted defender selected 5th overall by the Vancouver Canucks in 2016. In order to select Juolevi the Canucks passed on both Matthew Tkachuk and Clayton Keller who went 6th and 7th respectively.
Juolevi only played 23 games with the Canucks scoring 1 goal and adding 2 assists. Since leaving Vancouver, Juolevi has spent time with the Panthers, Ducks and Red Wings organizations.
If Juolevi is unable to make the Coyotes defense core it will likely signal the end of his NHL career.
