Patrice Bergeron breaks the hearts of Montreal Canadiens fans in his post signing comments

For whatever reason Montreal Canadiens' fans felt there was a chance that Patrice Bergeron would be willing to leave the Boston Bruins and return home to Montreal. When the Canadiens hired Kent Hughes, Bergeron's former agent, fans felt that this might even increase the chances of him to joining the Bleu Blanc et Rouge. But today things came crashing back down to reality when Bergeron agreed to a 1-year deal with the Bruins.

After signing this deal the Bruins forward was asked about whether his former agent Kent Hughes ever reached out and tried to convince him to try and move sign with the Canadiens.

We've known each other for 20 years, right? So, he (Hughes) knows with me the Bruins � that was the only place I wanted to be. If things would have been different and I thought any differently, he knew that maybe I would have reached out after July 13. But there was never a doubt in my mind, so he knew that he kind of had to stay out of the way, I guess, and let me make my decision with the family.

In the current NHL it's great to see a player like Bergeron continuing to show the level of loyalty and respect that he carries himself with. The Bruins will look to hopefully have their Captain and core fully healthy by December in hopes of making a significant push for the playoffs.
