Philadelphia Flyers prospect requires 30 stitches after taking a shot to the face
The Philadelphia Flyers selected Emil Andrae 54th overall in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. The 20-year-old has yet to make the jump to North America, but this morning he's probably wishing he had. During a game yesterday the young defender was struck in the face with a puck.
Andrae was taking part in a preseason game playing for HV71 against Djugarden. Andrae explained what happened after the game to Afton Bladet
He jumped in front of me and then I didn't see the shot. It just clicked and I collapsed.
I was really groggy, but my head seems to have recovered and I remember everything. There was a lot of blood, but I didn't have time to think much.
After the incident Andrae was helped off the ice by teammates before being taken to the hospital for observation.
Andrae is expected to miss significant time and will definitely be out of the lineup for the foreseeable future. Andrae will be unable to eat solid foods or even yawn for the next little while as the injury heals.
Liquid food, until it heals together. I can't eat or yawn, because then the stitches tighten.
Hopefully this injury heals and the young prospect can get back in the lineup as soon as possible.
