Pittsburgh Penguins looking to trade star as contract talks stall
Now is around the time during the National Hockey League season where teams are taking stock of what they have. If you're a team that's struggling, you know you have to make changes in order to try and make a run at a playoff spot before it gets much later in the season. Conversely if you have players on expiring contracts and negotiations on a new contract aren't going well, you look at the market and what you could potentially get for players.
According to TSN's Chris Johnston and Josh Yohe of The Athletic, the Pittsburgh Penguins could look at trading Jake Guentzel because of the uncertainty surround contract talks; take a look.
Guentzel is on an expiring contract that pays him 6 million dollars per season and is likely due for a raise.
At 29, Guentzal has proven he can produce for a few seasons now and has 35 points in 31 games for the Penguins this season. Including 14 goals and 21 assists.
It'll all depend on how much Guentzel's asking price is, but with talks stalling, if he is available there will be no shortage of teams lining up for the services of the Pittsburgh star.
