QMJHL player tragically passes away at 17-years-old
On Friday afternoon, the Drummondville Voltugeurs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League released the heartbreaking news that 2021 3rd round draft pick, Francis Durocher had passed away.
Not long after Durocher was drafted he was diagnosed with Leukemia during his first QMJHL season. The diagnosis limited Durocher to just 6 games during his rookie season.
The Voltigeurs released the following statement.
The Drummondville Voltigeurs organization is in mourning.
A few hours ago, the hope of the Reds and defender of the Riverains of Charles-Lemoyne College, Francis Durocher, unfortunately died following his battle against Leukemia.
Last March, the organization informed you that its hope was affected by the disease. 3rd round pick in 2021, Francis will have played 6 games with the Reds in 2021-2022.
