Red Wings forward sidelined with season ending injury
The Red Wings placed Robby Fabbri on Injured Reserve Friday and he is expected to miss the rest of the regular season with an ACL injury.
Fabbri left Thursday's 6-5 OT loss to the Minnesota Wild with a lower body injury. The Red Wings have called up Taro Hirose from the AHL. Hirose has 14 goals and 45 points in 52 games in the AHL. He has played one game in the NHL so far this season going without a point.
Another ACL injury is brutal news for Fabbri. The 26 year-old forward has already undergone multiple knee surgeries in his career. He missed the entire 2017-2018 season and played just 32 games in 2018-2019.
He was in the middle of another solid season for the Red Wings 17 goals, 13 assists for 30 points in 56 games. He signed a new contract in December that pays him 4 million annually through 2024-2025. Hopefully he will be recovered in time for the start of next season but with ACL injuries it is always a gamble.
