This is the point during the off-season where young players start to get invites to pro camps. Make an impression during camp, sign an entry level contract.
According to Bob Duff of Detroit Hockey Now, the Detroit RedWings have invited forward Ivan Ivan to their rookie camp.
Ivan, 20, represented Czechia at last months World Juniors. He also collected 65 points in 65 games played with the Cape Breton Eagles of the QMJHL last season, including 31 goals and 34 assists.
Ivan went un-drafted last year but the skill he possesses is evident. Is this another diamond in the rough for Wings general manager Steve Yzerman, or will Ivan have trouble catching on in the pro ranks? Only time will tell.
The Wings are in the Traverse City prospects tournament which runs from September 15th to the 19th, while camp begins on the 22nd.
