When Sidney Crosby was drafted first overall by the Pittsburg Penguins in 2005, the hockey world knew his career would be something special. He was the first person ever in Canadian Hockey League history to be granted exceptional status and play in the league at just 15.
Naturally, the comparisons to the Great One, Wayne Gretzky started early and haven't really stopped throughout the entirety of his 17-year National Hockey League career.
Like Gretzky, Crosby's name is all over the NHL record books. First 18-year-old in league history to score 100 points in a season, the youngest captain in league history when he wore the C at just 19, and the youngest captain to take his team to a Stanley Cup victory just to name a few.
With his 3-points against the New York Islanders on April 14th it brought his season total up to 80, and as such Crosby may have joined the record books in the most impressive way. 80 points on the season means he has became at least a point per game player in every one of his 17 NHL seasons. Over his career, tying only Wayne Gretzky as the only players in NHL history to do so.
