Stars Share Passing In The Organization
The Dallas Stars shared sad news today that long-time scout for the organization Doug Overton has passed away.
Stars General Manager Jim Nill released the following statement:
"Doug was a scout's scout. He knew the league and the players as well as anyone in the business. His role in helping build the '99 championship team can't be overstated, and he will be missed by the entire hockey community"
Overton was with the Stars organization for over 18 years and helped draft some of the organizations best players past and present during the last couple decades. Captain Jamie Benn was a fifth round pick during the 2007 draft. Trevor Daley, (43rd in 2002) Jussi Jokinen (192nd 2001) Roope Hintz (49th in 2015) Jason Robertson (39th 2017) and Jake Oettinger (26th 2017)
Everyone at Bladeofsteel send our condolences to Doug's family and friends during this difficult time.
