Steve Yzerman has removed all players from this country from his team
The Detroit Red Wings have had a lot of turnover this off-season as general manager Steve Yzerman tries to right the ship and get the storied franchise back on track. In trying to do so, a troubling trend has emerged.
According to Twitter user icehockeygifs, the Red Wings have waived, traded of terminated the contracts of all the players born in Czechia, a damming trend to be sure; take a look.
I'm seeing a common theme with Steve Yzerman's moves lately...
🇨🇿Jakub Vrana (traded)
🇨🇿Filip Hronek (traded)
🇨🇿Filip Zadina (waived+contract terminated)
🇨🇿Dominik Kubalik (traded)

Jakub Vrana, Filip Hronek, Filip Zadina and Dominik Kubalik have all left the team for various reasons, but it gets the question, does Yzerman have it out for players of a certain nationality?
The way he's handled both the contract termination of Zadina and the trade of Vrana coming out of the player assistance program is truly stunning.
Now this isn't to say Yzerman isn't allowed to have preferences, but this seems like a bit more than a trend. Maybe he's still not over the 1998 loss to Dominik Hasek in the Olympics.
