The Toronto Maple Leafs made two separate roster moves today. Minutes before the 2 pm waivers deadline the Maple Leafs announced they'd traded forward Sam Lafferty to the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for a 5th round pick.
We have traded forward Sam Lafferty to the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for Vancouver's fifth-round selection in the 2024 NHL Draft.
Moments later the Leafs announced that they had placed goaltender Martin Jones on waivers to clear his cap hit.

Now according to Joshua Kloke of The Athletic, it appears the Maple Leafs may not be finished. According to Kloke, the Leafs have an interest in getting something "big-ish" done.
Still torn on this one: Lafferty is a serviceable pro who can fill different roles. I'm a proponent of #PlayYerKids but could this mean the Leafs need more out of Minten, Holmberg etc than they can give?
Wouldn't surprise me if something else big-ish happens soon.
Only time will tell what Brad Treliving has in mind, but with so much floating around, it's hard to believe Treliving won't at least try to get something done in the new few days.
