Toronto Maple Leafs lose after controversial video review (Video)
Tonight the Toronto Maple Leafs hosted the Arizona Coyotes for what should have been an easy victory. But when a victory seems guaranteed that's usually when NHL teams fall into a trap. And that's exactly what happened to the Leafs.
Like is usually the case the Maple Leafs played down to the level of their opponents. The Coyotes jumped out to an early 2-0 lead before the Maple Leafs tied the game. A Justin Holl giveaway late gave the Coyotes a 3-2 lead.
The Maple Leafs thought they'd tied the game with under a minute to go, but that's when the situation room called down and reviewed the goal.
The referee gave the following answer, which left the Leafs and their coach dumbfounded. Arizona went onto score an empty net goal and win the game 4-2.
