Toronto Maple Leafs make announcement confirming Matt Murray's career may be officially over
The Toronto Maple Leafs have been at the center of conversations around the NHL. The Leafs currently sit nearly 13 million dollars over the salary cap, but it now appears they've found their solution to their cap problems.
Today the Maple Leafs officially announced that Matt Murray will NOT be placed on waivers and he will NOT be bought out. Instead Murray will be physically unable to play due to injuries.
The Maple Leafs announced today that goaltender Matt Murray is out indefinitely and will be placed on Injured Reserve/Long Term Injury prior to the start of the season.
This decision will likely face heavy criticism and scrutiny from those feeling the Leafs are circumventing the cap.
