Just when it seemed like the Toronto Maple Leafs had found a goalie that could handle the duties of being a number one, he went down with injury. And, the latest update on Joseph Woll doesn't sound good.
Woll had to be helped off the ice during a game against the Ottawa Senators after what appeared to be a very routine glove save. It was clear Woll was in pain.
The Maple Leafs have released an update, and revealed that Woll sprained his ankle.
"Maple Leafs goaltender Joseph Woll is out week-to-week with a high ankle sprain.
This leaves goaltending duties for the Maple Leafs in the hands of Ilya Samsonov and Martin Jones. Not exactly what fans want to hear. However, it does create an opportunity for one of them to step up. We'll have to wait and see what happens.
