The Boston Bruins continue their red-hot start to the season. Yesterday they defeated the Vancouver Canucks 5-2. During the first period of the game, superstar David Pastrnak was skating through the neutral zone and about to cross the Vancouver blueline. As he did, Vancouver defenseman Kyle Burroughs stood up to Pastrnak and checked him. The hit was perfectly clean. Burroughs shoulder hit Pastrnak right in the chest and both players stumbled to the ice. Pastrnak was not injured on the play, and it looked like a solid defensive play from Burroughs.
Immediately after the hit Tomas Nosek came to the defense of his star winger. Nosek approached Burroughs and both players quickly dropped their gloves. Not many punches were thrown and both players wrestled each other to the ice. Nosek was given a two-minute instigating penalty, five minuets for fighting, and a ten-minute misconduct.
Tomas Nosek is not known as a fighter at all. For him to come to the defense of his fellow teammate says a lot about him and the Bruins team. Yes, Nosek received an additional penalty, but he let the Canucks know that they won't tolerate going after superstar winger David Pastrnak. It's no wonder things are going so well for Boston early in the year. This team believes in each other and fights for one another.
