Vegas Golden Knights General Manager makes surprising announcement about his goalie plans
Yesterday Kelly McCrimmon, the General Manager of the Vegas Golden Knights helped introduce the newest member of the team, Phil Kessel. During Kessel's introduction McCrimmon also fielded questions about the team going forward. One of those questions was obviously about his goaltending.
Earlier this summer it was announced that Robin Lehner would miss the entire next season due to hip surgery. The team and Lehner had attempted to avoid the surgery, but ultimately Lehner's career could not continue without it.
McCrimmon was asked how the Knights planned on handling their goaltending situation and he gave the following answer:
Vegas GM Kelly McCrimmon said the @GoldenKnights will go into the season with a goalie tandem of Laurent Brossoit and Logan Thompson, with Robin Lehner out for 2022-23.
With rumors swirling that the Knights would look at add a goaltender this is a a surprising claim. After firing multiple head coaches it will definitely be McCrimmon on the chopping block if the Knights miss the playoffs.
