Every year a new player bursts into the scene and takes the league by storm. This year a surprising rookie for the Montreal Canadiens has taken the league by storm. Arber Xhekaj has burst onto the scene with the Canadiens this season. A throw back type of player who isn't afraid to throw down or play physically.
According to one NHL scout who works for the Vegas Golden Knights , Xhekaj is the most improved player he's ever seen. Such high praise for a rookie who's played 11 games at the NHL level.
If Montreal didn't sign him October/November last year, he would've had 32 offers.
Look Xhekaj is a good player, I like him I think he's good for the game of hockey and good for Montreal as a whole, he's engaged, physical and ready and willing to scrap whenever he has to, but I think this might be a little over blown.
He's playing in a big hockey market, has 3 points in 11 games and has been a gift on the back end for the Canadiens to this point in the season but, 11 games isn't a huge sample size and I just don't want to see people overhyping him only for him to crumble under the pressure.
