The Washington Capital have to feel some relief after hearing about the recovery time for their rugged winger Tom Wilson. If you recall, Wilson tore his ACL in his left knee during game one of the Stanley Cup Playoffs versus the Florida Panthers. Shortly after his injury, Wilson had successful surgery and is now on the road to recovery.

The dreaded ACL injuries take a long time to recover from, however it appears Wilson is actually making fine progress rehabbing his knee. Wilson's return is still unknown at this point. It could be as early as November or as late as January depending on how his rehabilitation goes and how Wilson feels. Certainly Wilson or the Capitals' don't want to rush Wilson back too early and have a setback so both need to exercise caution about his return to the team. Wilson is well known for his physical play on the ice so the organization will want to make sure he is one hundred percent healthy before he returns to the ice.

This is encouraging news for Wilson and for the Capitals organization. Love him or hate him, Tom Wilson is a valuable piece of Washington's team. For multiple seasons Wilson has played as a top six forward for the Capitals. He brings grit, power, toughness, and goal scoring ability to a talented Capitals team. Wilson's unique skill set is hard to find in hockey players nowadays. Surely both Wilson and the Capitals can't wait for his return to the ice.
