In April 2020, Edmonton Oilers forward Colby Cave lost his life after a cyst in his brain ruptured and doctors could not control the bleeding. He was only 25-years-old. Cave left behind a wife, Emily Cave. Colby Cave was originally drafted by the Boston Bruins before moving on to the Edmonton Oilers. The first game back that the Edmonton Oilers and Boston Bruins played against each other where they were allowed fans again, the Bruins honoured Colby Cave and had Emily drop the ceremonial faceoff.
Emily Cave has a larger than average presence on social media. She is very open and public about what she has gone through. From the grief of losing Colby, to taking the next steps in life and trying to move on. Because she has such a public social media, it of course is full of online trolls. But one took it a little to far and Emily called that person out by name.
Emily called out the troll for his comments he left on pictures of her with her new boyfriend. However, the person making the comments actually posted from his business account. This has lead to the person deleting their instagram account. Some people can dish out the hateful comments, but runaway when they are being held accountable for what they say.
