Whether some people like it or not, fighting is and most likely always will be part of the sport of hockey. Sometimes fighting happens more often in lower tiered professional leagues, but it's not everyday something like this takes place
During a game on Sunday between the Atlanta Gladiators and the Savannah Ghost Pirates of the ECHL, 3 fights started off the opening faceoff just 2 seconds into the game, take a look:
Whatever happened between these two sides the last time they met, it didn't take long for them to settle the score this time around, in fact, when all was said and done, a total of 70 penalty minutes were handed out.
I'm not a huge fan of staged fighting, like this appears to be but it's clear the two sides have a history, and sometimes to move on from that, the only answer in a hockey game is a fight.
Make no, mistake the ECHL is high level hockey that most of us could never play in, but it's probably one of the toughest leagues in North America currently, besides the FPHL.
This kind of scene to kick off a hockey game would make the Hansen brothers proud.
