An apology is being offered by Joonas Rask, younger brother of former NHLer Tuukka Rask, after his actions at a wedding caused an outcry from those attending
Every bride dreams their wedding day will be a beautiful celebration of their love for their partner. No one dreams of anything like this. Hockey player Joonas Rask, brother of longtime NHL goaltender Tuukka Rask, has issued an apology after his actions at a wedding caused a scene.
Rask was outed by the groom at the wedding, who made a post on social media saying Rask crashed the wedding at a night club where he'd been drinking, took off his shirt, grabbed the bride, and pushed her head down while yelling "sucking machine!" Asked if that was true, Rask said he honestly doesn't remember, but he's sorry either way.
"I spent the evening with my childhood friends. At one point, I went dancing next to the DJ table, where this wedding party apparently was. I don't remember everything. I took my shirt off at some point and apparently it was pretty rough.
I don't remember that exactly. I remember there was a group of about five or six people there. I am extremely sorry if I have hurt anyone's feelings. I definitely didn't want to ruin anyone else's evening."
Joonas, 34, was selected by the Nashville Predators in the seventh round of the 2010 NHL entry draft. He played two games for the team before returning home to Finland to play. After a few years there, Rask's hockey career took him to Sweden to play in the SHL for a while. He returned to the Finnish Elite League last season.
Tuukka Rask, who is four years older than Joonas, spent his entire NHL career with the Boston Bruins, playing 564 regular season games, and another 104 in the playoffs, before retiring in 2022. His name was etched on the Stanley Cup as a member of the 2011 Boston Bruins team.
