This is one you'll be seeing on the highlight reels for a while, and has to be an easy candidate for Goal of the Year in the NHL. In fact, everything about this play is pretty near perfect from the moment the official drops the puck for a faceoff.
The Carolina Hurricanes were geared up for a defensive zone faceoff against the Washington Capitals, when Dylan Strome and Sonny Milano connected for a beautiful goal. Strome managed to poke the puck between the legs of his opponent on the draw. He then skated around him, and made an incredible no-look behind the back pass to Milano. Milano realizes the pass is good, but slow so he flipped it in the air with his stick, and then another perfectly timed tap was used to put it over the shoulder of Canes goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov.
That marked Milano's second goal of the night. The 27-year-old, who had a hard time finding someone to sign him until Washington made an offer on Oct.18, 2023, currently has 12 goals and 19 points in 38 games this season.
