Edmonton Oilers practice turns sour as on-ice altercation between goaltender Tristan Jarry and teammate erupts

Tristan Jarry snapped at practice, and the Edmonton Oilers can feel the goaltending drama tightening fast.
A verbal fight took place that sums up Edmonton's season so far.
Edmonton's crease has been wobbly for weeks, but this one hit different because it spilled into the room.
Team insider Bob Stauffer described a tense moment in practice where words started flying and the vibe turned ugly.
He also didn't love that Jarry publicly pointed to the defensive play in front of him after a 7-3 loss to Minnesota.
When a team employee says he's «quite concerned» about «extraneous things,» that's code for real friction.
Elliotte Friedman then added fuel, saying there's plenty of talk that Jarry «got into it» with teammates in practice.
"There's some extraneous things that have me quite concerned with Tristan," said Stauffer on Oilers Now. "I can read between the lines of what was going on on the ice yesterday in practice and there seemed to be some salvos flying. I didn't like that that Jarry, when the Oilers lost 7-3 to Minnesota, talked about how the team is playing defensively in front of him."
That lines up with the eye test, because nothing settles a bench like calm saves between the pipes.
Instead, Jarry's run in Edmonton has been rough: 13 games, a 3.96 goals against average, and an .862 save percentage.
"There's a lot of talk out there about Jarry got into it in practice with some of his teammates out there," said Friedman on the 32 Thoughts podcast. "It's been a hard year for the Oilers."
Tristan Jarry and the Edmonton Oilers hit a nerve
Oilers fans are already on edge, and you can feel the patience thinning every time a routine shot turns into panic.
This is where the position gets lonely, because a goalie can't chirp his way into trust.
If teammates think the effort is slipping, they'll demand a harder push in drills, and it sounds like that happened.
But if the goalie feels hung out to dry, he'll bark back, and suddenly the practice pace becomes personal.
On the cap side, Jarry's $5.375 million cap hit for two more seasons makes this more than a bad week.
That number limits easy fixes, so the Oilers need the solution to be internal, not a fantasy swap.
The next start matters, because one clean game can quiet a room, while another messy one makes every comment louder.
For Edmonton, the standings race is stressful enough without a goalie feud lighting the fuse.
