Embarrassing scene as Team USA player loses her phone on the ice during gameplay
It was an embarrassing and light-hearted scene as Team USA's Carolina Harvey somehow had her phone drop onto the ice during game action.
Thanks to their 3-0 win over Germany, Team USA is now on its way to the semi-finals as part of the ongoing 2025 IIHF Women's World Championship.
Head coach John Wroblewski acknowledged the tough opponent that Germany represented while also looking ahead.
Today was an important game, we battled and continued to fight. Germany is a tough, physical team and we stuck to our game and got the win.
But there was a bizarre scene during gameplay in which Team USA forward Caroline Harvey's phone appeared to fall out of her equipment and onto the ice, halting the contest.
The incident drew a considerable reaction from fans on social media, many of whom couldn't believe why a player would have her phone on her person while in the middle of gameplay.
If I was coaching, she wouldn't be getting back on the ice for a while..

Who plays with their cell phone on them? Leave that stuff in the dressing room.
any hockey team should suspend a player for bringing their phone with them during a game. She was obviously using it on the bench - otherwise why not leave it in the dressing room?
Shouldn't this have been a bench minor delay of game?
Ironically, this isn't the 1st time that an incident like this has taken place this year. In January, a KHL player lost his phone on the ice while in the middle of gameplay:
