The NHL Playoffs are the most grueling of all the major sports. The physical toll that a series can take on a players body is rarely understood by someone who has never played the game. Hockey players are also universally viewed as some of the toughest players in the world.
So the idea that a player would embellish his potential injuries to explain his poor play isn't a common practice. However, that is exactly what insider sources are telling Frank Seravalli about the injury shared by Elias Pettersson.
In his year end interview Pettersson shared that he suffered a knee injury in January that just kept getting worse.
According to Seravalli multiple sources from within the Vancouver organization have disputes that information. Seravalli shared the following on a podcast appearance.
Seravalli also pointed out that Pettersson never missed a practice or game, and that his agent stated at no point did EP ever meet with a doctor.
If this is true, it displays a true lack of heart and leadership from Pettersson. A player who would rather protect himself instead of think of the entire team. If true it's hard to imagine, despite his new contract that Pettersson has much time left in the Vancouver locker room because once trust is lost in a locker room it's impossible to get back.
