It sounded like some major moves were about to happen to the Edmonton Oilers just two days after they lost in game seven of the Stanley Cup final against the Florida Panthers but I don't think anyone saw this coming.
According to TSN, Darren Dreger, Ken Holland, general manager of the Oilers is leaving the organization. To this point, nothing was official, but there was rumours that he would be joining another front office now this opens that door.
Dreger mentions that Holland's contract was about to expire and he wanted to move on to the next challenge.
Holland has been the general manager and president of hockey operations of the Edmonton Oilers since May 7, 2019 at which time he signed a five-year deal.
The Edmonton Oilers look like they're about to be dismantled with how many players aren't returning that were integral parts of the team that made it all the way to the Stanley Cup finals and now in their search for a new GM, which no one saw coming
