Is this a sign of what's to come this season for the Pittsburgh Penguins? GM Kyle Dubas has traded away a veteran forward in Lars Eller, returning him to the Washington Capitals, where he previously spent several season.
A recent report stated Pittsburgh Penguins GM Kyle Dubas had already let his counterparts around the league know that everyone was available, except for 87. That is, of course, team captain Sidney Crosby.
NHL personality Paul Bissonnette encouraged Kyle Dubas to make the big move and trade Sidney Crosby out of Pittsburgh to put him out of his misery.
Lars Eller, meanwhile, returns to the team he won a Stanley Cup with in 2018. The Washington Capitals have had a resurgence so far in the 2024-25 NHL season, getting off to a much better start than last year and looking more like a team ready to battle for a postseason position.
Eller didn't just win a Cup with Washington, the 35-year-old was a huge part of the team's playoff run, scoring 7 goals and 18 points in 24 postseason games. It's a sign the Capitals believe they have moved in the right direction this season. It's also an indication that Pittsburgh Penguins GM Kyle Dubas knows this season is going down the drain in a hurry.
