New York Rangers rookie forward Matt Rempe has taken the National Hockey League by storm in a very short time, reviving what it means to be a true enforcer in the league, taking on all comers and never backing down no matter who it is that issues a challenge. With that, he's gotten himself into some trouble, coming off a 4 game suspension.
With that being the case, does Rempe plan on changing the way he plays to be a more sustainable player in the league? It certainly appears that way in his media availability coming off the 4 game layoff; take a look.
Rempe mentions that while his game won't change too much, he knows he needs to keep the hits in check, especially when players are in more vulnerable positions.
Rempe also mentions keeping everything compact when going in for big hits so as not to let them get out of control as well.
Time will tell if he's actually able to do these things, but it certainly sounds like he would like to be a changed player slightly, and with his weight and size, it's probably for the best if we're being honest.
