Former enforcer Milan Lucic hasn't played NHL hockey in quite some time, and his wife took to social media to share a heartbreaking update on his situation.

Going back to November 2023, Bruins forward Milan Lucic, who was playing in his second round with Boston after returning as a free agent to the team with which he began his NHL career, was arrested.
This arrest was following an alleged incident of domestic violence against his wife, Brittany.
Ever since that terrible incident took place and details on what happened in the Lucic home were released, it felt like nothing was going to change or help the veteran forward's attempt to return to play in the NHL.
That is, until this past weekend. On Sunday, Brittany wrote a heartfelt note reflecting on his journey to sobriety on Father's Day. In an emotional tribute posted on social media, she truly reflected on his great resilience.
"The greatest gift you have given our children is the gift of your sobriety -the ability to experience life through a cleaner, more grounded perspective. You have always been present for them, and now, even more so," she wrote.

"They are truly fortunate to call you 'Dad' and to learn from the thoughtful tools and wisdom you've gained along your journey. I am deeply proud of the strength, dedication, and growth you've shown as you continue becoming the best version of yourself - for their sake, and for the family we've built together."

Lucic is a former 2011 Stanley Cup champion with the Bruins, and he has openly addressed his battle with addiction.

Lucic entered the NHLPA Assistance Program, which seems to have helped

After pleading not guilty, he entered the NHL / NHLPA Assistance Program, where he received help for his drug and other addiction issues.
Lucic and Brittany got married back in 2012 and have three beautiful children, with daughters Valentina and Nikolina, and son Milan Jr.
The 37-year-old Lucic has not officially retired from the NHL. Perhaps he will come back as a free agent one day and get a professional tryout with a team.
In 1,177 games with the Bruins, Los Angeles Kings, Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames, Lucic has scored 233 goals, added 353 assists, and racked up 1301 PIM.
