Johnathan Marchessault who has played in nearly 700 National Hockey League games will be honoured by the junior hockey club in which he played four seasons before being signed by the Columbus Blue Jackets will have the honour of having his number retired by the Quebec Remparts later today.
The thirty-three-year-old spent four seasons with the Remparts skating in 254 games. During his tenure in Quebec, he contributed with 98 goals to go along with 141 assists.
If you ask anyone who has had the privilege of getting a jersey or number retired they will share with you that it is a tremendous honour and how fortunate they feel, likely with Marchessault it will feel no different.
The honour bestowed upon him represents the years he spent working hard to make sure he showed up and did the best he could night after night to presumably accomplish his ultimate goal, to play in the National Hockey League.
Over 638 games split between the Columbus Blue Jackets, Tampa Bay Lightning, Florida Panthers, Vegas Golden Knights and Nashville Predators, he's scored 230 goals & had 257 assists for 487 points. During that span, he also has 311 penalty minutes.
