NHL DoPS reaches decision on possible Leon Draisaitl Suspension
The NHL Department of Player safety has reached a decision on whether Leon Draisaitl will face suspension for his hit on Sacha Barkov
With the Edmonton Oilers trailing late in last night's game, Leon Draisaitl delivered a questionable hit to the head of Sacha Barkov. On the play, the forward left his feet and delivered an arm directly to the face of the Panthers captain.
Today, the league's Department of player safety has made the decision that the hit does not reach the levels of supplemental discipline. Instead of the league felt the only play from the game that deserved review was a spear by Sam Carrick.
The league has issued a fine to Carrick for his actions but will not be reviewing additional plays from the game. That includes the major needing penalty that was issued to Warren Foegele during the opening period.
Elliotte Friedman confirmed with a tweet that there will be no additional punishments levied.
Now the question remains, did the league get this right?
