A super soft fine from the NHL on Kevin Shattenkirk of the Boston Bruins for touching Michael Bunting of the Pittsburgh Penguins with his stick.
It certainly wasn't much, but the NHL has decided to levy a fine against Kevin Shattenkirk of the Boston Bruins for his actions during a game against the Pittsburgh Penguins last night.
"Boston's Kevin Shattenkirk has been fined $2,734.38, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for unsportsmanlike conduct during last night's game against Pittsburgh."
Shattenkirk was on his feet in the Bruins bench seemingly trash talking Bunting as he skated by. Shattenkirk then reached out with his stick, lightly touching Bunting on the hand. I'm not even sure Bunting noticed it.
I get it. Players on the bench aren't supposed to touch players on the ice. Shattenkirk's attempt at agitating was completely harmless, though. Again, Bunting doesn't flinch, or react in any way making it questionable whether he actually felt anything. Shattenkirk was apparently reacting to Bunting tripping his goaltender a little earlier in the game. Boston won last night's game 6-4.
